Just a quick post to list down the places where I frequent to discuss topical steroid addiction and withdrawal (TSA & TSW) in Singapore.
Juliana’s Topical Steroid Withdrawal Journey
Juliana was one of the first people I corresponded with to get advice when I was going through my own withdrawal symptoms. She has documented (and continues to update) her experience in great detail on her blog. Juliana posts her TSW stages and progress chronologically and in great detail.
Eczema and Topical Steroid Addiction Awareness (TSA) Facebook Group
Created by Leslie Chua in Singapore, the Eczema and Topical Steroid Addiction Awareness (TSA) Facebook Group has about 500 members and counting. I go there to answer questions from community members who are just starting out on their withdrawal.
International Topical Steroid Awareness Network (ITSAN)
And of course, the most comprehensive resource remains the International Topical Steroid Awareness Network (ITSAN). I must have read hundreds of stories from community members there, and it gave me the courage to embark on my own withdrawal journey.

Video Documentary – “Preventable – Protecting our Largest Organ”
A brave and selfless fellow sufferer Briana Banos created a powerful and informative documentary on Red Skin Syndrome and Topical Steroid Withdrawal called “Preventable – Protecting our Largest Organ”. She shares the stories of several TSW warriors from around the globe, and thoughts of why the topical steroid overuse has become so prevalent. She interviews the very few doctors who acknowledges this condition who shares scientific points on this topic.
This documentary is aligned with National Eczema Association and ITSAN community to create awareness on topical steroid usage.
Every lotion and cream that I applied stung my skin badly because of the wounded skin in contact with water-based skincare. And the raw skin, inflammed blood vessels were sensitive to chemical in the skincare.
After trying many different skincare, these were the ones that truly helped relief my pain and healing :
- YNotNatural Omega 369 100% Pure Emu Oil – Most importantly, this pure grade emu oil didn’t sting. After applying, the redness calmed down. And the best part is that I feel assured that because it’s 100% natural, I can apply on raw skin without fear of harsh chemical’s side effect.
- Kakadu Plum Ointment – This is made from organic kakadu plum and beeswax. For the severely dry areas, which cracked and needed more protection, this ointment was a saver.
- Germolene Antiseptic Cream – It has anti-pain properties, unlike normal antiseptic which stings, this cream did not sting much and helps to prevent infection.
To help TSW sufferers, the above products are now available at Skinshare.sg.
